Welcome to the website of the Rutgers Social Development Research Program. We are part of the Department of Psychology on the Newark campus of Rutgers University. Our work examines social-contextual factors that shape behavioral development throughout the lifespan. We focus primarily on the development of aggressive and antisocial behavior, and the impact of exposure to this kind of behavior. Our studies examine the development and impact of aggression in neighborhoods, families, schools, peer groups, the media, and the corrections system. We also are very interested in how developmental science can be utilized to enhance the assessment and treatment of problem behaviors in children, adolescents, and adults.
